Top 5: Most Wanted SSASR DLC Characters on PS3

I suppose this wraps up my little Top 5 series, though I’m ending it with the characters I want to see the most on the console I actually plan to get the game for.  Compared to Microsoft, Sony certainly has more franchises I’d like to see in a kart racer (or any sort of cross-franchise extravaganza a-la Super Smash Bros.), and narrowing it down to a paltry five wasn’t easy.  Patapon and Nathan Drake were close, but didn’t quite make the cut, nor did anything from Team Ico.  So what did make it?  Well, scroll down to find out!

Here’s my Top 5 Picks for Most Wanted PS3 DLC Characters:

5. Playstation Home

We already know Miis and Avatars are coming to SSASR, but what customizable player does Sony have (aside from my #2 choice)? Besides, what else are you going to do with it? Play Home?  Yeah, I didn’t think so.

4. Kratos

With God of War 3 hitting shelves so soon, crazy kart racing might be the perfect tie-in. Or not. I don’t care. I just want to see him in his gritty glory zipping through rainbow-tinted beachsides, flashy casinos, and magical paths made of latin music.

3. Sly Cooper

I’m a platforming nut and a fan of anthropomorphic game leads.  Needless to say, I instantly fell in love with the first Sly game shortly after booting it up.  Sly himself is everything you’d expect from a smooth, cocky thief, and he already has a van to boot!  He hasn’t shown up in a game since the PS2, and I think SSASR would a great comeback (or at least proof Sony hasn’t forgotten him).

2. Sackboy

Why hasn’t Sony just made that little doll their de facto mascot? He’s cute, he’s versatile, and he’s perfect for tie-ins with other games! Considering that he won’t be the star of Mod Nation Racers, good ol’ Sackboy should at least have a chance to compete against some friends that are more than costumed copies.

1. Ratchet & Clank

Last year, I gave the first Ratchet & Clank game a chance since I heard good things about it (plus it was really cheap!). Fast forward to today, and I’ve now completed all four main adventures on the PS2, have the first PS3 game prepped, and the PSP games on their way from Amazon. Ratchet & Clank has charm, humor, and great run-and-gun gameplay. It doesn’t hurt that over the years, he’s piloted (and raced) hoverboards, hoverbikes, walking tanks, and a few spaceships.  SSASR has hedgehogs, foxes, echidnas, cats, monkeys, and space mice; the roster’s just begging for a lombax!
