Sonic 4 Returns! (After a Month Long Hiatus)

Obviously not all teaser sites can be a Smash Bros. Brawl or Mario Galaxy 2 YouTube site, but when the countdown timers dry up months before a game’s release, you’re not really keeping people coming back. Perhaps Sega has been focussing on leak control, but poor ol’ sonicthehedgehog4.com has been fairly neglected since the last big update.
That’s supposed to change this week.
According to multiple sources (Sonic Stadium, Sonic Retro, and TSSZ), this Thursday will bring some sort of mysterious, big update through Stadium and Retro, promising an explanation for going quiet about the game for so long.
Whether this announcement is as worthwhile as promised, it’s hard to say; the only information we know is on the way is a press release. There’s no mention of new (official) video, screenshots, music, gameplay, or anything else that has already been leaked, but then again, we are simply talking about an announcement for an upcoming announcement.
As always, stay tuned to The Spindash for more this Thursday.

Hasn’t the entire game been leaked, though?

Perhaps, if you enjoy ruining it for yourself months before it comes out.
Simply put, despite what seems to fly around in discussion, I still have a level of skepticism with the leaks. I haven’t seen them, but similarly, those who have typically only do so through video, which defeats the purpose of it being a game. I could easily watch someone play through the entirety of Super Mario Bros. on YouTube, but I don’t because the joy of it comes from the feeling of controlling a character. Watching it beforehand, seeing the level construction and later gimmicks would spoil the experience for me, and I wouldn’t enjoy them nearly as much whenever I try them hands-on, the ideal way to experience the game.

Uh, potential coolness I guess? Honestly though, I think they should announce anything big at E3. At least there they can get up on a big stage and show something off to it’s full potential, as the mood for cool things will be in the air. And readin the articals, it could just be more content shown, and why they haven’t said anyhting for so long.
Also GX, should the copyright at the bottom be updated to say 2008-2010?

The fundamental problem there:
People typically only watch the big three press conferences. They could show it off at their booth, but then they’d also be competing with hundreds of other games. Plus, if you observe how they’re making this announcement and the outlets they’re choosing, it seems to suggest it’s directed more towards established Sonic fans, which really don’t need any time devoted toward them at E3. Then, you also have to consider the time frame. If they wait until E3, that’s starting to push a bit close to the release date.

well said good sir, I will say though that I limited myself down to a few leaks, just to see what it looks like, and it looks decent from the tiny bits I have seen, I hate his spindash animation though, and the music.

I think Sonic 4 being delayed is actually a GOOD thing, at least they’re not rushing it. At least we know they’re not putting the game out unfinished.

It seems everyone is waiting ready to strike and grab what ever news Sonic Team actually wants to put out. I was looking at the forums on the sonicthehedgehog4.com site and one person ask if the graphics could be CHANGED and be cooler.
It looks like to me many are just letting it drop and wait while others are taking advantage of this slowness and asking over and over again.
All I have to say now is “Run Sega! Run! Or be well done!” by a-lot of impatient or waiting fans! (Sorry! Couldn’t help it!)
