Sonic Colors Announced for Wii & DS
It’s been too quiet, hasn’t it? Sega’s M. O. has been two Sonic games announced at a time, so when all we had to look forward to was Sonic 4, it felt like the eye of an unseen storm. I, probably among several others, expected the next game to fall in line with the storybook series, or some other sort of spin-off.
However, this announcement came a bit out of left field, or to stray from the colloquial phrasing, came a bit out of a Crayola box of Electroplankton in space amusement parks.
I think I’ll stick to colloquial phrasings.
Sonic Colors (or Sonic Colours for our European friends), is a new 2D/3D hybrid game for Wii and DS scheduled to drop late this year. Details are still under wraps, but Eggman’s reaching for the stars to capture an alien race called the Wisps. The story and levels center around a space amusement park orbiting the planet. Using the Wisps’ powers, Sonic can activate new abilities in the game, such as drilling into the ground or dashing forward like a laser.
The press release then goes on to suggest that the game is a “brand new high speed action adventure,” that “players run at supersonic speed,” that a series of Wisp-enabled abilities “helps make Sonic faster than ever before,” and that, in all, “Sonic Colors sees Sonic accelerating to adrenaline-pumping super speeds.”
(For those of you keeping score, there are 6 instances of the word “speed” in the press release, as well as the words “race,” “fast,” “accelerating,” and “boost.”)
If you’re hankering for more information, you may want to check out June’s Nintendo Power, and it’s hard to imagine that we won’t hear something about it this E3. Otherwise, just stay tuned to the Spindash.
But before I go, allow me to submit to you this hypothesis: the game is “Sonic Colors,” and one would assume that the individual colors would be represented by the different Wisps. When referring to pigments, black is a combination of all colors. Therefore, wouldn’t he be the result when all Wisps are combined?

It seems interesting, and Tails will hopefully be the helper character, or even playable. The speed bit does worry be though. Wisps seem similar to the Modnation Racers powerups, especially if the warp one turns out to be green. In a response to the last paragraph:

Hmmm…I’ll wait for more info…by the way, I just watched Sonic X episode 77 in Japanese w/ English subtitles. It’s so sad! (And makes me hate “4Little-kids-who-don’t-care-about-the-preservation-of-genuinly-good-anime” all the more.)

New coolness! Phoenix Wright for iPhone! And only $4.99! Also, Sonic 4’s coming out for iPhone too! But, it’ll probably have crummy controls… Ah, who gives a rip? I’m getting it anyway! Probably because there’s not enough storage on the Wii… Seeya, I’m gonna watch some Homestar Runner!
knuxsoul out!

I myself actually wanted them to continue the story book series. I really dislike how the game play is the same as Unleashed.
